Races of Men

Races of Men
Feldri (Men of the Fells) Feldri are large, dense men with a skin tone that falls between slate grey, to nearly obsidian black. Generally taller and wider than the more average man, these physical power houses are also stronger on average than men from the other two races. Stoic and poised The Feldri are also considered far wiser than the other races, although this does not at all mean that they are devoid of emotion, just better at controlling it. With their immense strength comes a natural gift of all things that would use it, such as stone work and metal work of any kind, sadly though the naturally stoic nature of the Feldri leaves much to be desired in the creative and artistic department. It is said that if you need a wall built, or a sword made go to a Feldrian, it will be the plainest thing you had ever seen, but also the best crafted.
Aldri (Men from Aldria) Aldri are smaller, lighter men, with an almost alabaster white skin. With larger eyes that could be any color imaginable, these sneaky little bastards are faster and more agile than any other man you would ever find. Boisterous, and creative, they excel at anything artist, as long as it does not involve stone or steel. Where the Aldri feel most at home in the crafting world is wood work and leather work, and anything to do with anything that was ever alive. Sadly while creative the Aldri are not very innovative, so while capable of the most beautiful art ever, good luck ever getting them to problem solve.
Reidri (Men of Reidrian) Reidrians are not physically superior individual. While not as fast as the Aldri, or the Feldri for that matter, they are at least stronger than the Aldri. Where the Reidri really wins out is endurance. Sure an Aldri can out run a Reidri, but for how long, and superior strength only goes until you are tired out. Also, while by far the least wise of all the races, Reidri are remarkably innovative, which makes them naturally good at engineering and science. So sure a Reidrian axe may not be able to fell as many trees, let’s see them make one that cuts them done by itself.

Creation Myth

In the beginning there was only the Void and the Power. It was like this for some time until one day being too close to the Void, the Power began to ripple, and out of these ripples came Ebb and Flow. At first these two new beings were young and foolish, and each tried creating from the Void a world that perfectly suited their Individual natures. But just like how in the world shadows cannot exist without a light to cast them, neither of these too worlds could exist without assistance from the other. As Ebb and Flow grew wiser, they realised their folly and came to a  new decision, they would destroy the “perfect” worlds they had created, and instead work together to create a world of compromise, a world with both Light, and shadow, a world that worked.
Once the world was created, Ebb and Flow realised that it remained empty, so first Ebb took  energy from portions of the world so that it would slow, creating the Earth. Flow then took the energy Ebb removed, and scattered it to the rest of the world, creating the Sea. They Each then  created smaller worlds, and again taking energy from one, and giving to the other, Ebb created the Moon, while Flow created the Sun.
Wishing for something to watch over her new creation, Flow then took a piece of herself, and dividing it into twelve equal  portions created twelve beings of power that took on aspects that aligned with her own demeanor. Finally understanding the importance of balance, Ebb took a piece of himself, and dividing it into twelve equal parts, followed suit in creating twelve more beings that aligned with himself, as perfectly as they foiled the beings of Flow. These beings together became known as the celestials, and were charged with maintaining the world that their parents had created.
For a time this was enough, the gods and theirs children maintaining and enjoying the world they had created, but eventually Ebb and Flow noticed something  they never anticipated from their children, a will of their own. Upon seeing this the gods had a new idea, they could together create something new to populate the world and to bring it life,  so they set about creating the mortal races.
Ebb created the Fell races, the chief of these was the dwarves. To them he gave great strength and wisdom, and in them the spark for all things his mastery, such as war, anger, and the ability to shape things of stone and metal. Flow then created the Fair races, in which the elves were the most beautiful. To them she gave great agility and creativity, and the spark for all things she excelled at, such as music, compassion, and the ability to guide the growth of all other life. Each god then took something from the other race, to maintain the balance. From the dwarves, Flow took their stature, ensuring that while stronger than her elves, they would never be able to look down upon them. From the elves Ebb took their endurance, so even though they were faster than his dwarves, they would never be able to outpace them.
After they were done, they decided to take the remainder of the power set aside for life, and worked together to create the final race, Man. Man was created as a middle ground, neither stronger than the dwarves, nor faster than the elves. Where man truly shined was in his determination. While elves and dwarves had all the natural talent, a man with enough determination could match their skill, or sometimes even surpass it.
Convinced that their creator was now perfect, Ebb and Flow prepared to leave the world to it’s own devices, only to realise that the mortals they had worked so hard to create, were reducing in number. Confused by this the Gods investigated only to discover that their new creations could not survive forever in the world, so they each came up with their own solution. Ebb created a place where the souls of the dead would live out eternity free from mortal constraints, and then became know as Death, or Decay. Flow, gave to mortal races the ability to reproduce so that their numbers would never run out,  and became known as Life, or Rebirth.
Finally ready to leave the world and the mortals they had created, Death and Rebirth gave one last gift to its creation. Asking all twenty-four of the celestials to give up an equal share of their power, and taking one from each side, forged twelve powers to give to mortals creating the keepers. Charged with maintaining the balance their masters has worked so to create the immortal keepers were chosen from the greatest of men, dwarves, and elves to forever protect the mortals from themselves and the creatures of the world.

At long last, the two gods tired from their labor, retired back to the heavens to allow the world, and everything they created to protect it. It was a decision they believed would allow their creations to flourish and become greater and more beautiful than they could possibly imagine. Sadly, this was only half true.
